Basic Wardrobe Planning for Men
While most men do not spend that much time thinking about their personal style, basic wardrobe planning for men may be more useful than you think.
What does basic wardrobe planning for men consist of? Well, there are far more men’s fashion items in the world today than ever before. It used to be that men had the choice between ties, suits, and shoes ... but today’s fashion world has opened up and embraced the manly spirit. Of course, this just means that men will have a lot more styles to think about ... and this is where it gets confusing.
You may know that you need at least two suits and a couple of shirts, there are some other style necessities that will fit nicely into any man’s wardrobe. First of all, find out which colors look good on you ... and which ones really don’t. You will need to purchase at least six button down shirts in a variety of colors to add to your closet. Though you may be tempted to choose the Hawaiian and golf shirts, select more conservative styles to start (don’t worry, we’ll get to those other prints later).
Next, make sure that you have at least five pair of nice, classic, trousers. Plaids and pinstripes are a great way to go, and you can add a few basic black pairs to your closet as well. Basic wardrobe planning for men also includes some casual jeans (no pleats, please); a few comfortable t-shirts (throw away those shirts that are hanging by the collar!); and a few pairs of great shorts – you can also purchase a few of those aforementioned printed shirts. Lastly, don’t neglect men’s accessories.
Now, you may think that accessories are for women, but this is no longer true. Every man should add at least two handkerchiefs; ten neckties (try not to choose patterns and prints); a few cuff links (no martini glasses); and maybe a hat or two. Also, remember to buy a new pair of shoes at least once every two months, and throw out those shoes that are worn through on the bottom.
As you can see, basic wardrobe planning for men is quite simple – isn’t it? Keep styles classics, remember to update your wardrobe, and don’t forget to accessorize (yes, that includes watches too). Though men may not consider fashion as often as women do, today’s fashion world offers men a world of opportunity, so what are you waiting for?
